In addition to our new Environmental Science and Forensic LabPaqs introduced earlier this week, Hands-On Labs’ scientists Dr. Emily Barter and Leah Stroud have revised our Earth Science LabPaq to better fit the unique laboratory needs of Earth Science students. This LabPaq allows students a hands-on way to investigate and learn concepts such as Earth’s physical features and properties; including how and why rocks and minerals are formed, as well as reading and interpreting maps to better visualize Earth’s physical features. “We developed these LabPaqs to give the students a hands-on experience with procedures that are easy to follow while also giving them a good understanding of Earth Science” says Leah Stroud. Dr. Barter adds, “Students are introduced to topographic mapping, contour lines, longitudinal profiles, and stream gradients, all concepts which they are exposed to daily through GPS systems, but not often investigated and fully understood.”
